BACK TO NYC!! (a little too personal)

Just a new friend… pic by YJ
Well, those SIX months went by pretty fast. SOME things I got out of them:
- Because I haven’t been away from home for this long I learned to appreciate things and people such as family that were far from me but also learned to appreciate the things that I’ve ignored for a while just because they weren’t close enough to me. The joy of discovering new things is unbeatable.
- Unexpected things happen all the time, surprises are constant no matter where you are.
- Learned about myself before everything else. Little things inspired me to go further, but true I didn’t have to be so far to learn that!.. well now I know.
- It’s all about body language!… try to say in German where is the bathroom when you really need to go! ha! you kind of have to speak with your hands… But even then don’t feel frustrated about it because after all they DID understand you. I don’t mind getting LOST IN TRANSLATION
- Music is good no matter in what language
- Paris is too expensive and too crouded… Not the dream city I had in my mind but yet welcoming enough with the sweet crepes
- Beer is cheaper than water in some parts of the world… ( good for some of us but why are we paying so much for a bottle of water!)
- Gelatto in Italy is amazing… !
- There are cities that have recently had gone through difficult times but yet its people manage to give you that smiley and kind face everyday ( yey Belin! )
- Think NY partied hard?? Check out Madrid… even though they are going through an economical crisis they still manage to keep their social life.. bars, clubs, and good food… oh yeah the food!!!…
- It was nice to visit all these buildings I had only learned on history books, or from professors, previous case studies or just seen so many times on pictures. I think that was one of the greatest joys. The moment you step on one of those, such as the Mosque of Cordoba or Le Corbusier’s Villa Savoye, what a great joy! It’s hard to explain but at the moment you step inside or look a street sign that points at the place it makes you want to cry… maybe that’s just me.
- I learned to like pasta and pizza. Well that’s the cheapest thing you can have in Italy but is so great that you can’t resist to it.
- If you fly with RYANAIR please double check which airport you will arrive to and which one you depart from… otherwise finding out you got to the wrong airport two hours before your flight departs from those small aiports that only Ryanair has located in LALALAND willl be a hustle!
- Always have TUNA with you .. ha!
- One of my professors said “An architect’s instructor is not his own professor but rather history and the paths he walks on”
- How to curate architecture? well, there were three things in how to do it I only rememeber two of what my Professor said: PRESERVE NATURE and BE CONTENT ON WHAT YOU DO.
- “Dont strive to be a Starchitect, strive to be a GOOD architect” (I miss my mentors)
- One of my favorites is MEETING NEW PEOPLE, or people that you thought you won’t see in years. I didn’t meet too much people but I made some good friends and saw some people i though I won’t see again.
- It’s okay to feel unsecure at times, it will only make you come back STRONGER once you figure out the right path ( that’s what i thought)… but the thing is that there IS NOT a right path, but multiple ones and I’VE learned that even when you take the worst one you will still get something out of it !!! .. soooo, It’s okay to mess up as much as you can!.. well not so much… with moderation ha!
- Well, lets hope I learned more things than what’s on this list (pretty sure i did)but at the moment these are the ones that came to mind…also i still have a bunch of pics to post but yeah I DIDN”T MIND GETTNG LOST IN EUROPE AT ALL!!
